Now get the autograph of every other band on the compilation and then it might be worth $10. Go for it!!

I post on the AAR board, and if I'm not mistaken, I think Alicia and I PM each other a lot. They're really nice people, and AAR is a great band. And I wish they had been at Warped in Cincy (though I'm not bitter!)

ok...here goes.....venturing out of the board of random stuff...well...i seem to be one of the few (if not the only) members on here to not be into pop-punk....i'm more into indie now than punk in general...so..uh...yeah. although i wouldn't mind warped tour's older tours...when they had Bad Religion and MxPx. although MxPx might still be on there....hmm...i dunno. i'm so behind.

Rule of thumb: if you can find their CDs in Tower Records nationwide, they aren't indie anymore. But if you like indie, rock on! I'm not a fan of pop-punk too much, or at least what we call pop-punk today...FW and a couple other bands with brand new amps are strict exceptions. I wouldn't call FW, AAR, or any of them pop-punk, but their correct (yet far less attractive) name, power pop. It sounds gay since if you tell someone a band is power pop, they'll probably think of a Britney cover band or some crap like that, but a variety of pretty-well-educated people have told me that that's what the term is. I'd like to think of Slack when someone says pop-punk, it seems much more accurate...The occasional catchy hook, stuff that gets stuck in your head, but with that same abrasiveness that can be found in real punk. But that's just my reasoning. EDIT: Thinking back, since power pop is such a misleading title, I'd go ahead and call it pop rock, maybe with an "alternative" thrown in at the start for good measure.

It just amazes me that a fourteen year old is so worldly and has so many opinions.
Yeah, AAR is gonna be in Cleveland. I'M NOT BITTER I SWEAR.
I try not to categorize my taste. I like pop/punk, alternative and indie, etc. If I hear it and I like it, then I listen to it. I don't worry about what it classifies as.

It just amazes me that a fourteen year old is so worldly and has so many opinions. Is there an intended negative connotation to that? I can't tell...but if there is, yes, I'm highly opinionated. And I wouldn't have it any other way... And I'm not worrying on how to classify it. I just like my music so much that I really think about these things. It's not like I came up with that entire rant on the fly, I came up with that opinion a couple weeks ago when I thought about the term "pop-punk." I did add a little extra that I just thought of, though.

i dunno. i think pop/rock is a better term than power-pop. i'm just not fond of the word 'pop'. it's gotten such a bad connotation recently from 'bands with brand new amps' like nsync and people like britney spears. those who call themselves musicians, but in my mind, i believe they'd be nothing without ProTools. anyhow. there are a few bands with brand new amps who may be getting more popular, but they've stuck with the genre of music that they've always been in. like...let's say...the Pixies. they're still indie, although i know you can get them in any major record store. they've jut got that classic, low budget record sound to it, still. let's see...Modest Mouse is still making some good ol' indie, although they're on Epic Records now. that's far from independant record lables, but still. the sound is still there. i dunno. that's just me and my music. i agree with Janetalia: if it's good, i like it. if it sucks, it's a no-no. and i'm glad there's bands with brand new amps, such as the almighty FW who will help give the word 'pop' a good connotation again. (oh god, he used a smily!!)
