Cinco de Mayo is "maƱana" right, but why do Americans celebrate if its not an American holiday, alot of Mexicans dont celebrate either, like me, but do americans even know what Cinco de Mayo is? its not Mexico's independence day!!!

Ill tell you why American celebrate ANYTHING is to drink too much and eat too much.... HAHA! AGREED! Cinco de Mayo.. St. Patrick's Day.. Fourth of July.. New Year's.. Christmas.. Labor Day.. Secretary's Day.. cosmic tuesday.. Oh, and in the abundance of spare time I have.. Here's a little bit of historical background on Cinco de Mayo.. The holiday of Cinco De Mayo, The Fifth Of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexicans over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, but is also celebrated in other parts of the country and in U.S.cities with a significant Mexican population. It is not, as many people think, Mexico's Independence Day, which is actually September 16. Courtesy of: www.mexonline.com/cinco.htm
