Has anyone else heard about this new band? For the uninformed, it consists of Guns 'n' Roses minus Axl, plus Scott Weiland. They did a song for the Hulk movie, "Set Me Free," which really rocks and seems like the beginning of a promising career. They also did a 6-song set at a free show recently which is going to be released on an EP this October, and hopefully their album will be out by December.
I can't wait!

Hahah. Never liked Guns n' Roses too much, so I won't comment on my disappointment with their new material...other than that semi-unintentional comment. I will say, however, that I hope both bands with brand new amps release a full-length album, particularily around the same time - that'd probably be the only chance of rock beating out rap and getting to the forefront of music once again...It needs to be done, too, since if I see one more 12 year old grind a fellow pre-adolescent to a monotonous two-note crapshoot about "pimpin' dem hoes," I'm going to scream.
Back to the topic at hand, "Set Me Free" is great. Just a wee bit too much studio polish, but there's just so much energy in it.

Man, Pu want you to set pu free! Pu was stoked to hear about release. Maybe Velvet Shotgun will tour and make many albums. And stay together as long as Scott stayed off drugs.

Not likely! He's been in rehab THIRTY. FIVE. TIMES.

35 times? I'll bet this band never even gets to perform 35 times. See that's why rock is going the way of the dinosaur, all the cool rockers keep getting hooked on drugs and then the rappers take over while they are in rehab. GOD IT SUCKS. I want to hear these guys they sound really cool (even though I was never really a Guns- N-Roses fan myself either). HEY WEINERS STAY OFF DRUGS then you can take over the world like you're supposed to.

I refute my previous statement about GnR's new material. I've only heard "madagascar," and I admit that it's a good song, in a very melancholic way. It's very pretty up until the stupid minute-long Martin Luther King soundbyte that ruins the solo. Other than that, it's depressing to the point that you feel bad for Axl, which is kind of strange since I was never a fan of his. I hope that he gets his stupid album out and it's damn good, for his sake.
