Ok, I was watching MTV the other night (which I rarely do), when this freaky video came on. I don't remember who sang it, but it was like , "all the things you said, running through my head, running through my head." It was creepy because it had these two girls , standing in the pouring rain, with white blouses on, and short pleated skirts that barely covered them. They were in a cage, making out with each other, while all these people stared at them. Ok, the punchline: These girls were like, twelve! Seriously, it was like, two steps from kiddie porn, (I'm assuming as such anyways, as I've never actually seen any.). It freaked me out, and it usually takes a lot to freak me out. YIKES!!!

Actually, that's t.A.T.u and they're 18.
And they're just playing on the whole "guys like to watch lesbian kiss" thing.
They're marketed as lesbians, but really neither one is a lesbian.
By the way, they weren't in a cage, they were behind an iron fence.

Yeah. I forgot to mention, though that when that video was filmed, they were 16 and 17 (so yeah, you wern't far off from the kiddie porn comment). They waited until they were 18 to release it in the U.S. so that people wouldn't freak. Russians seem to think that Americans are tightasses. But they've been a big thing in Russia for at least a year now.
I love t.A.T.u. I have a lot of their songs downloaded (in Russian, not English), but I don't like their marketing scheme. I don't know why they couldn't market them for their good music instead of saying, "Ooooh, look at these 'lesbians'! You want to listen to them, don't you?" Very ridiculous. But luckily, they're not being recieved well.
Although "All The Thing She Said" is some WWF chick's entrance music. I was flipping through the channels and saw it. *shakes head sadly*
Oh yeah, and their english CD (which I refuse to listen to) is produced by Trevor Horn.

I am getting sick of watching slutty little girls run around and try to rock. Where are the true women of rock...Debbie Harry, Pat Benetar, Joan Jet? You didn't see any of them making out to try and sell records. Of course they could sing and play so.....

I agree with the both of you. I am tired of this spears, HAGulara, now leanne rhimes no clothes bs. They would never be what they are without showing some ass. Which again brings me to Avril Lawhatever, doesn't this poor girl own anything besides a white wife beater and a tie? For christ's sake she's from Canada. Get this girl a new shirt!

Well, they've certainly got my attention, although not my admiration by any means of the word. That's horrible! I mean, maybe if they really were lesbians, it would kinda make sense, but to simply use that as a marketing scheme..... Whatever! I guess it just comes as a shock to me that this is considered to be a good idea by someone. Ultimately, this is not gonna be a good thing for these girls' careers, at least not in this country. Ok, sure, at first people will be interested in them because of how they're presenting themselves, but that will wear thin soon. The really sad thing is that the song is catchy too, and could do well on its' own, w/o the video. As for the true women of rock statement, I think we should add Shirley Manson to that list. Any other suggestions? Jenna

Hey Ziggyster, I think I saw Avril in a black wifebeater once.
Heh.
Okay, I'm really not in to the band anymore, but how about Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries? I really like her.

I wanted to bring this thread back because today on 88.3 I heard T. A. T. U (however the caps are). I really tried to give them a chance but they reminded me of a depressed/paranoid Spice Girls. They played a couple of songs in a row, the poor dj mentioned something about "good harmony." It was fair at best.

I'm gonna call in 88.3 for some T.A.T.U (or whatever you call 'em), to hear how they sound and decide if I like their music or not. The "All the Things She Said" song isn't that great.
